Natural hair is a full-time job and should be handled with the utmost care. There are many different types of natural hair, so not every shampoo and conditioner will work for every hair type. You see many YouTube videos raving about one product while others are complaining about that same product. That’s why substantial research needs to be done to make sure you are using products specifically made for your hair type.
As someone with 4c and high porous hair, finding products that really moisturize my hair can be quite difficult. My scalp easily absorbs products which means I tend to have a drier scalp.
I can say that I have had a mostly negative experience with shampoos and conditioners. My scalp either feels drier after use or my hair knots up. If you’re like me, you have spent many years and a lot of money on shampoos and conditioners that promise to add moisture and shine to your hair, only to fall short of both.
After much trial and error, I am glad to say I finally found the perfect shampoo and conditioner for me. Laurel Essentials Organic African Black Soap Hair Cleanser and Kaolin Clay and Honey Hair Conditioner moisturizes and softens hair while adding a nice shine. It includes every possible moisturizing agent I can think of from shea butter and jojoba oil to Haitian black castor oil and organic aloe vera juice. All the ingredients in these products promote healthy hair growth and scalp treatment.
It contains peppermint and lavender oil which provide a soothing and calming scent while also combating dandruff and dry scalp. African black soap does not only have great skin benefits, but it helps scalp conditions such as alopecia and psoriasis. It also contains additional ingredients such slippery elm, pure honey, kaolin clay, rosemary oil, and organic marshmallow root, all of which strengthen and repair damaged hair.
After using these products, my hair feels more moisturized and soft. It is so much easier to detangle my hair which saves me time in the washing process. My scalp also has a nice peppermint tingle after washing and conditioning it. Even days after washing, my hair still feels moisturized.
I have never in my life tried a shampoo and conditioner that does so much for my hair. For a while, I just tried whatever shampoo and conditioner were the cheapest because I didn’t believe the promises that shampoos and conditioners were selling anymore.
I’m honestly surprised that I haven’t heard much about these products, but I’m happy it was recommended to me and I’m not going back to anything else. If you haven’t tried these products, please do. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
