You don’t need to be physically sick to take a sick day from work. Sometimes you just need a break and that’s okay. Work can get pretty stressful and having two days off per week, isn’t always enough.
But why is there a sense of guilt when we want to actually take a sick day? Why does it feel like we’re doing something wrong or betraying our work duties? At first, I used to think it was just me, but through some research I discovered that a lot of people feel like this. It’s almost as if they don’t feel they deserve to take a sick day.
Sick days are days you’ve earned overtime and they are there when you just don’t feel like yourself. It’s crazy how we put work and other duties in front of your well-being as if that is not the most important thing. It is definitely the most important thing and the only thing that matters. If you are not a 100% then you will not perform your best and you will not be very useful.
So if you’re contemplating taking a sick day, then do it. You will be better off and you will feel so good and fully rested. Book a spa day or head to the beach for some much needed vitamin c. You will look forward to work instead of dreading it because you have had time to rejuvenate and get back to yourself.
