If you are planning on taking a trip to the City of Angels, then you might want to check out these fun spots. I spent some of my childhood years living in California, so it is city I hold close to my heart. It is a melting pot of so many cultures and it has a huge and welcoming Hispanic population. The food is rich and there is always something to do. California has something for everybody whether you look exploring nature or hitting up a few fun spots in the city.
Before the pandemic, I would visit California once a year and I felt right at home every time. While there are a vast majority of places that you can go in California, these are some of my favorite places that I’m sure won’t disappoint, so here is a list of what to do for fun in Los Angeles, California.
TLC CHINESE THEATREĀ
TLC Chinese Theatre is where a lot of movie premiers happen and it’s definitely a must see. Located right on Hollywood boulevard, this iconic landmark opened its doors in 1927 and is still very popular today. They do offer a tour that is a bit pricey coming in at $18, but it’s definitely worth it.
HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD
If the Chinese Theatre tour seems a bit pricey, then you can just walk along Hollywood boulevard and take a look at the stars on the floor. Almost every celebrity you can think of has a star on Hollywood boulevard.
You can also find random strangers dressed in costumes of various movie and music characters. Some of them are performing and some will even let you take pictures with them.
HOLLYWOOD HILLS
Surf City Tours and Trip Advisor offer great tours of the Hollywood Hills and some of the tours even stop in front of celebrity homes. Who doesn’t love that. You’ll get to see the city of Los Angeles and visit some of your favorite celebrities’ homes. If you are not interested in taking a tour, you can also hike the hills up to the sign, but it can take anywhere from 2-4 hours to hike up and down.
RODEO DRIVE
You remember in Pretty Woman when Vivian asks her best friend, Kit, where she should go to buy clothes and Kit replies, “Rodeo Drive Baby.” Well it’s honestly as amazing as it is on the big screen. Maybe even more amazing than that. You’re also bound to bump into a celebrity on any given day. This street is lined with stores from top designer brands and it is definitely fun to walk through. Even window shopping is a unique experience.
SANTA MONICA PIER
This technically in Santa Monica, California, but it’s only about 30 minutes from L.A. which is why it made it on the list. On the Santa Monica Pier, you will find plenty of food options and a little amusement park. You can also look out onto the ocean and enjoy some live entertainment.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART
This museum features a work of art known as “Urban Light” which was created by Chris Burden. It is an exceptional piece and it makes for a great photo especially in the night time.
PARAMOUNT PICTURES STUDIOS
Paramount is one of the oldest studios in the Hollywood area. Some of our favorite television shows and movies were filmed there like the Titanic. You can get a tour of the grounds and you might run into some of your favorite stars. Take a walk down movie memory lane and learn some cool facts and history of how some of the most classic shows and movies were made.
