My All Time Favorite Christmas Movie

I LOVE Christmas movies and Christmas in general. I can’t way to snuggle up under my blanket with a nice cup of coffee and watch my favorite Christmas movie which happens to be The Holiday.

Not only is Kate Winslet one of my favorite actors, but the general picking of characters for this movie was genius. I would have never thought to put Jack Black in a movie like this given his previous acting history, but I was mistaken. He showed his versatility as an actor and we got to see a more calm and serious side of him. I usually find a lot of Christmas movies to be quite cheesy, but this one was not that and that is what I appreciate the most about it. Yes, there is still a happy ending, but it’s not one of those cringey ones where you go, “Ickkk!!!”

Honestly, what do you expect from director Nancy Meyers who also directed The Intern and Something’s Gotta Give. This woman is a genius and ya’ll better put some respect on her name. She has a way of creating a movie that warms your heart, but provides a lesson of some sort. It’s never too cheesy and it gets to the point.

I first saw this movie on the big screen when I was 13-years-old. I fell in love with it then and that love hasn’t faded away. My biggest take away from this movie is that a man that truly wants to be with you will make an effort. He won’t put you on the sidelines at his convenience. I also learned that it wasn’t that there was something wrong with Cameron Diaz’s character, it was just that she hadn’t met the man who made her feel all sorts of emotions. A man who made her feel like she was walking away from something she really wanted.

We get to see two worlds merged together in a beautiful way with some much needed comedy and some lighthearted fun. You pair that with an amazing soundtrack and you have yourself a masterpiece. It’s just the right movie to bring me into the Christmas spirit and give me all the feels.

What’s your favorite Christmas movie?
