Rebranding your blog can be an exhausting task, but deciding to rebrand can take your blog to the next level. There are a few key factors to consider when thinking about rebranding from the theme of your blog to the type of content you want to produce.
YOUR BLOG HAS LOST DIRECTION
Blogging is a game of strategy and it requires you to stay up to date with what’s popular. While it is always great to stay true to yourself, you have to make sure that you are providing content that your viewers want to read. Sometimes rebranding is required if you feel like your blog has lost direction and you want to get things back on track.
Taking a step back and really thinking about what information you want to relay to your audience is crucial in your rebranding process. It helps you to determine the direction you want your blog to go. This involves going over your niche and maybe letting go of certain topics that haven’t resonated with your viewers.
When I first started my blog, I was more focused on pushing out as much content as possible to get some sort of footing in the blogger world. Now that my blog gets over 30,000 views, I realized that rebranding was the only way to take my blog to the next level. This meant organizing my content and letting go of certain topics that received no traction from my viewers.
Pay attention to your blog posts that get the most views and comments and work to produce similar content. This is a great way to build consistent viewership on your blog. It is also important to produce content that will genuinely help your viewers.
YOUR CONTENT IS NOT RESONATING WITH VIEWERS
Before you sit down to write a blog post, you have to ask yourself how this particular post will benefit your viewers. Are you providing information that will make your viewers’ lives easier in some way or help in improving their quality of life? If the answer to this question is “no,” then I wouldn’t write a post on that topic. This will set your rebranding process on the right direction.
YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT CHANGING YOUR NICHE
Have you lost interest in your original niche? When it comes to rebranding your blog, you must consider whether a change of niche could be quite jarring for your viewers. If you feel like changing your niche, it is best to slowly transition into that new niche then to “cold turkey” it. If your content has always been about beauty and now you want to incorporate fashion, then it is best to add a section to your blog just for fashion.
This is a great way to get your viewers used to any new changes to your blog. You don’t need to completely remove your beauty section. It would also be wise to let your viewers know that you are transitioning to a new niche.
YOU’RE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR BLOG’S AESTHETIC
Whether you are looking to change the theme of your blog or design a new logo, changing your blog’s aesthetic is a great way to freshen up the blog. I would first ask your viewers what kind of content they would like to see more either through comments or a poll. I would then look at themes that are more aligned with your content and try to match that aesthetic.
If you don’t have a clue on how you would like to change the design of your blog, then consult with a site designer. They will most likely have a lot of experience in the field and will offer some good insight into rebranding your blog.
SOME OF YOUR CONTENT IS NOW IRRELEVANT
Are their certain posts you have created that are not aligned with your new niche? This is a good sign that you need to clean up your content and delete certain posts that no longer fit the new look of your blog. It is also a good idea to refresh menu. Take out any categories that are irrelevant and maybe think about changing the titles of some categories.
Put yourself in the mind of a viewer. What attracts you to some of your favorite blogs? Is it the theme or how simple it is to navigate? These are the type of things to consider before you start revamping your creative space.
YOU’RE NEW BLOG IS READY
Rebranding your blog can be quite the task and very time consuming, but with the right plan you will have a clear direction through the entire process. A fresh look can be just the thing needed to put your blog on the map and bring in more viewers.
