You know that feeling where you want to write, but nothing seems to come out. Everything in your mind is all jumbled up and doesn’t seem to make sense. You know what you want to write about, but can’t seem to make it flow.
This is something that many writers and bloggers go through and it is something that you can overcome. So I have listed some ways to get over writer’s block and I hope one of these tips helps you.
STOP EVERYTHING AND COME BACK TO IT TOMORROW
As a blogger, this is something I struggle with because I am the kind of person who likes to sit down and get things done in one sitting, but after hours and hours of nothing, I realize that I need to regroup, take a day, and come back to my post later.
This works because you are giving yourself a breather and time to really think about what you are trying to convey to your readers. It gives your mind a much needed break. When you come back to your writing, you are refreshed and most likely have new ideas. The words will start to flow right out of you.
STOP OVERTHINKING IT
We are so worried about what other’s will think and if our writing sounds smart enough. We try to throw in fancy words here and there. JUST STOP IT! That not only puts unnecessary pressure on you, but it makes the writing experience not as enjoyable. Whatever you write is your art and your work and it should be personalized to your liking. Yes, you want to make sure your writing is appealing to your audience, but it’s also about adding your own flare to it. Be simple in your approach and add character and charm to your writing, so that it keeps readers coming back.
STOP WRITING ABOUT THINGS YOU AREN’T REALLY PASSIONATE ABOUT
I am pretty sure many of us bloggers have been guilty of this. You are writing what you think will appeal to readers, but you could care less about it. If this is the case, then it won’t be your best writing no matter what you do. Only write about things that are fascinating to you and are appealing to you because believe it or not, your excitement will show through your writing. Sometimes readers are excited just because you are.
ADDRESS YOUR DISTRACTIONS
If you have set time aside to write, but you are thinking about an important errand you need to run, then take care of that errand. When you write, your mind should be clear and you should ONLY be focused on your writing. If you are presently there, but your mind isn’t, then it’s time to put down that pen and close that laptop because you won’t be getting any work done. You are better off addressing what is keeping your attention, then returning back to your writing after.
